My knee-jerk reaction to this pandemic as it relates to food was “oh, s#!+.” Food and body image issues stirred up while in panic mode—and after talking a lot with clients the last few weeks, I know I wasn’t alone in that feeling!
But here’s the thing.
Since diet culture is so prevalent in our society, those feelings never disappear 100%, but with the right tools, we can get over that initial trail of profanities and shift our mindset back into place. Each time, you grow and move forward.
COVID-19 has created an unprecedented situation and I know many of you are feeling lonely trying to cope. I have survived many difficult times related to food and body issues through the years – I feel confident sharing what I’ve learned about how to survive and even thrive.
Starting next week, I’ll be hosting a Body Confidence Meetup Series— a (virtual) community gathering to provide space for those whose body image is being impacted by COVID-19 quarantine.
This live coaching series offers support over four weeks to help you grasp the problem at the root, challenge diet culture, and boost confidence in yourself and your body. You can join all four or jump in where you need it the most.
Join the conversation for all four weeks, or jump in where you need guidance the most. These discussions are intimate, so the circle will be too—spaces are limited and capped at 15 people.
Meetup 1: Let’s Talk About Body Image – April 22
This week’s conversation will cover the fundamentals of having a positive body image—what it is, why it’s important, and why we have confidence issues in the first place. We’ll discuss diet culture, how weight loss attempts add fuel to the fire, and you’ll dive deeper into the relationship that you want with your body and what you can do to get started on that path.
Meetup 2: Unraveling the Threads of Diet Culture – April 29
This meetup will focus on how diet culture has influenced your life from childhood to present day and explore the roots of certain beliefs you may hold about your body. We’ll discuss creating boundaries around body and diet talk with loved ones and coworkers, how to handle your triggers, and shifting your mindset to a more neutral or positive place.
Meetup 3: Reprogramming Fear Around Self-Trust – May 6
This week’s conversation is all about the fear of letting go of our limiting beliefs. Fears around trusting ourselves around food, quitting diets for good, setting boundaries, and weight gain all hold us back from living a full life. You’ll also learn how your perceived “bad” habits support you and how to reframe negative self-talk
Meetup 4: Embracing Your Unique Body – May 13
The final meetup of our Body Confidence series explores the importance of self-expression and how your happiness in different areas of life contribute to your overall well being. We’ll talk about getting comfortable with your body, gymphobia, making choices from a place of self-love rather than self-loathing, and how you can flex your confidence muscle from here on out.
These discussions are intimate, so the circle will be too—spaces are limited and capped at 15 people.
You’ll get the most out of these workshops if you join and participate live, but if you can’t make it, no worries—we’ll send a replay within 24 hours. You’re also welcome to sign up for workshops after the date has passed as well to access the discussion video + handouts.
